Angelina's journey to Cambodia

Angelina Jolie travels to Cambodia, country of her first addopted son, Maddox, to make a video for Louis Vuitton new campaign. It's natural, fresh, simple. And so is Angelina: with natural make up and in her own clothes- all that makes that commercial very honest and true, which is so different from nowadays fashion houses campaigns. Beautiful.

Yohji Yamamoto In Conversation with Frances Corner in Victoria and Albert Museum

Last Sunday I went to V&A for the meeting with Japanese designer, Yohji Yamamoto. He was interviewing by Frances Corner, Head of London College of Fashion.

I was making some notes and here's few quotes from yohji:

* Fashion is about the time. I want to be timeless.
* I didn't mean Japan. The time when I noticed I was Japanese was when I came to Paris. They called me   Japanese.
* Chanel did everything. I'm useless.
* When I work with colour, I need to find colour stronger than black.
* I hate fashion. I like women.
* Cloth is a house for a body.
* People wearing baggy clothes are sexy, because I'm imaging what's under. So please, hide!
* When I was 7, there was a lot of prostitutes in the place where I was born, they scared me. (That's why he never does high heels on the catwalk)
* In this world people's taste became really crap.

Nothing to add. Yamamoto forever!

(Actually, I'm working on Yohji's fashion show organised by V&A. It will take place on 1st July, so if you're in London make sure you'll come. Admission free. More info HERE)

Fashion in Motion: Yohji Yamamoto

Friday 1 July 2011
13.00, 15.00, 17.00 & 20.00

Fashion in Motion is a series of live catwalk events presented against the unique backdrop of the V&A. Featuring some of the greatest designers of our time, Fashion in Motion brings the excitement and spectacle of the high fashion catwalk to a wide audience.
On 1 July 2011 don’t miss Fashion in Motion: Yohji Yamamoto, a series of free catwalk shows featuring both menswear and womenswear pieces from the archive of Yohji Yamamoto. Celebrating the designer’s major retrospective, currently on display at the V&A, the show will be modelled by real-life London couples. The concept echoes the designer’s Spring/Summer 1999 menswear show, which was modelled by real couples from the streets of Paris.
Born in Tokyo, Yohji Yamamoto set up his own companyY’s Incorporated in 1972. His work has been fêted for challenging the conventions of fashion, the playful pieces feature asymmetric cuts and unusual silhouettes. His collections are also recognised for subverting gender stereotypes and have featured women wearing garments traditionally associated with menswear. Yamamoto's fabrics are central to his design practice and his textiles are created to specification often employing traditional Japanese dyeing and embroidery techniques.

Amsterdam Calling!

Oh I can't wait to go to Amsterdam at the beginning of July. There is Amsterdam International Fashion Week taking place and I got an invitation to take a part in few fashion shows and exhibitions. First one will be show of a new brand called Frank. They are launching their website on 16th of July, when their show will also take place. So happy! I haven't been in Amsterdam yet (well, except these 30 minutes I've spent on the airport when coming back from Lisbon to Warsaw) so am really looking forward to visit it as it's always been on the list of the cities I have to visit (next to New York, Cusco, Havana, Tokio, Moscow, Sydney, Florence, Copenhagen, Buenos Aires and many many more)

New Designer Crush: FELIPE OLIVEIRA BAPTISTA & last year's Lisboa

Few photos from my travel to Lisbon last year and my cute brother, Jaś:

If I have to choose where to spend the rest of my life, it would be definetely Lisbon. I completely fell in love with that city, when I went there for the first time in 2008. I was doing today a little research about european designers and found that Poruguese amazing guy, Felipe Oliveira Baptista.
Graduated from Fashion Design at Kingston University, Baptista worked for such designers as Cerutti, MaxMara and Christoph Lemaire. In 2003 he launched his own label to show at Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week two years later. In 2009, for the first time he showed his collection at pret-a-porter show during Paris Fashion Week. He is Creative Director of Lacoste.
I adore his designs, because under these complicated constructions there is hidden simplicity, they are fresh and young and I would love to have few pieces in my own wardrobe.

Meeting Yohji Yamamoto

Long long time ago, I was checkin' website of Victoria and Albert Museum to see do they have any interesting events going on (and obviously they always do)
Besides Yohji Yamamoto's exhibition (which unfortunately wasn't my favourite, although it's still something you shouldn't miss so if you're in London make sure you visit V&A >> more details here and be quick, you have time until 10th of July!) Londoners will have absolutely amazing and unique opportunity to participate in interviewing the designer by Frances Corner. How great is this? I mean meeting the legend of Japanese fashion, listening to him, asking some questions. It's only 8 days left and my list of questions I would like to ask him is growing everyday. Am freaking out even more 'cuz I got a job at his fashion show in V&A which means I gonna have the best time ever!

Sooooooo excited!

Viktor and Rolf: Because we're worth it

I started to watch fashion documentary films like a year ago. Mostly, in a library at my Uni, cuz they have amazing choice. So far Ive seen "Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton", "The Day Before - Sonia Rykiel Documentary", "Lagerfeld Confidential", "Beyond BIBA" or "Signe Chanel". Last time I went to my DVD place ( btw if you live in East London, you should definetely become a member, awesome place full of great movies! ) I found that documentary about Dutch designers, Viktor and Rolf. I remember falling in love with them, when I saw their Flower Bomb Collection in 2004 (little reminder here ) and then remember marrying them when I smelled their Flowerbomb Perfume for the first time.
The documentary is a portrait of one year in the career of V&R with the beginning at the exhibition in  Louvre Museum and the end with first fragrance in the shops and amazing collection on the catwalk.
I got an inside look at the making of the fashion house, the way they work and deal with everyday problems. Wow, and I finally know which one is Viktor and which one is Rolf.

New Designer Crush: OLIVER RUUGER

I'm in the process of doing a research for my next photo shoot. One of the coolest things about it is that I discover new designers while visiting hundreds of websites.

I would like to introduce you to one of them. Oliver Ruuger is 2011 London College of Fashion MA Graduate.
That's what he's saying about his last collection:
"My aim is to avoid 'inspiration' and instead cultivate an intuitive and accidental design process. The primary intent was to design and make products that exhibit an intrinsic power. Artefacts must command equality between themselves and the viewer, without  appearing purpose subservient as a product normally would. The final result is a high fashion product with an emphasis on highly laborious craft techniques with a view to the future - sculptural fashion artefacts that have strong contrast between hi and low tech."

This time I am super proud as it's Polish magazine, Polish photographers, stylist and our shining star, JAC. I remember buiyng Fashion Magazine when I was in high school, reading every single word and dreaming about doing photoshoots with famous models and photographers.
Im still reading and dreaming, but I feel like I'm a step closer to make my dreams come true. And I also feel like that special magazine helped in all thiat. Hope one day I will be able to do an amazing shoot for them.

Beyoncé rocks on new Dazed&Confused cover.

Beyonce looks stunning @ new Dazed&Confused cover. Styling done by magazine's Fashion Director, Karen Langley makes me wanna work even harder to get to that stage one day. Most of the pieces seen in editorial were made specially for the shoot (including Louis Vuitton jacket, Gareth Pugh snood and Givenchy jumper)
Beyonce answers questions from YSL's Stefano Pilati, Tom Ford, Givenchy's Ricardo Tisci and Gareth Pugh. Very stylish interview, I gotta say.

Favourite quote: " When I do something I do it 100 per cent. I have high expectations of myself and expect the exact same thing of everyone around me. I've always been that way. I'm all or nothing."

Not my favourite song, but few outfits are pretty impressive:

Harvey Nichols celebrates the opening of "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" // The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York

It would be great to live in New York or at least to visit it pretty soon. They not only have Statue of Liberty and Times Square, but also The Metropolitan Museum which is known for organizing the best fashion exhibitions in the world. Now, it's hosting an exhibition dedicated to Alexander McQueen's work which means that that it has be absolutely amazing. For these, who cannot travel to NYC, Harvey Nichols decorated shopping windows with Lee's designs.
